Knowing that food scraps are being returned to our Garden State's soil is a fulfilling and reassuring notion. After all, how rewarding is the process of community compost collection? From your doorstep to our farm, in the matter of hours your scraps feed our livestock and join our nutrient dense soil to cultivate future healthy crops such as the ones they originated from. A satisfying cycle of sustainability!
At Neighborhood Compost we strive to make your composting experience beyond just satisfying - a clean, convenient, fun, and dare we say it... stylish adventure. One of our favorite sidekicks on this scrappy journey is none other than the Bamboozle Countertop Composting Caddy. Pictured here in the color Natural.
In this brief blog, we'll tell you why we love the Composting Caddy and how to care for yours!
I used to be the person that would keep a wide open Pyrex on my countertop to collect the day's food scraps. While the convenience was there, the open container wasn't ideal, especially during warm, fruit fly months. The "food scrap grunge look" quickly became at odds to the kitchen decor and lifestyle I was selecting for my home.
These past struggles paved the way for us here at Neighborhood Compost, leading us to partner with Bamboozle to bring you the Countertop Composting Caddy. They're sleek and come in a variety of colors, ending the days of an often unsightly pile of countertop scraps. The caddies are easy to clean, and not harsh on the environment. Crafted from bamboo fiber, they will be returned to the soil without a trace. They can even be placed in the dishwasher! However, they do not recommend microwaving it (we're not sure why you would anyway...)
The caddy additionally has a wonderful hemp filter that rests in the lid to help keep any smells in throughout the day. This filter should be replaced every two months. You can purchase addition filters here!
We recommend using the caddy for daily use and emptying the scraps often. By reusing this trusty composting sidekick daily you can divert thousands of pounds of waste from landfills! Ultimately being an active agent of reducing the amount of greenhouse gas emissions for our beautiful planet.
In our Neighborhood Compost shop, we sell BPI-certified 2 gallon Biobags that are a perfect fit for the caddy. We suggest stocking up on a few rolls so that way, you can fill your caddy with the day's scraps then either tie up the bag and pop it in the freezer or toss it straight into your Neighborhood Compost 5 gallon bucket!
As soon as you notice some food scraps or remnants left behind, either wash with warm soapy water or put it in the dishwasher for a quick cycle!
All in all, the Bamboozle Countertop Composting Caddy has proven to be an ideal transfer station for food scraps on their journey to your Neighborhood Compost bucket and New Jersey's soil.
We hope this blog was helpful and informative for you on your composting journey! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to info@neighborhoodcompost.com
Have a great week, neighbors!
